The October Edit

I’ve blogged about a lot of products this month, but which ones have been the stand out stars? Time for the October Edit…let’s see who made the cut!

Skin Care

There’s been two lovely products that have been refreshing tired eyes and nourishing wind slapped cheeks this October…

Firstly the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. Two words… Oh Wow. This skin care saviour has revolutionised my skin care routine and now night times will never be the same again! A slick of the nourishing apricot scented formula twice a week before bed leaves skin hydrated, soft and moisturised come morning. The treatment quenches skins thirst and I’ve found this has really helped my skin battle through the cold and windy October days. Winter dry skin? A thing of the past!

Secondly the Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream. My reservations about eye cream have been well and trurly blown out the water after introducing It’s Potent into my skin care collection. The lightweight, sleek formula soothes and moisturises tired eyes, keeping them hydrated and supple throughout the day and night.  After around a month of use I can confirm the formula has helped add an injection of radiance under the eyes. Five stars!

Complexion

To add extra radiance to my lacklustre skin this time of year, it’s got to be Benefit’s Watts Up. A gorgeous champagne highlighter formulated into a smooth cream stick, this precision perfect formula glides onto cheeks to add glimmer and glow. Day time skin looks dewy and fresh with a quick scribble on top of base products, and evenings are glammed out with champagne sparkle on cheeks, under brows, down the nose and in the cupids bow. The perfect product for a gorgeous glow all year round.

Cheeks

If there was ‘one blush to rule them all’ Benefit Rockatuer would get my vote. The soft, finely milled powder is a romantic shade of blushed rose and sweeps onto cheeks to give a natural flush of colour. The dusky, rose gold hue works perfectly with any eye or lip colour and I’ve been wearing this pretty much every day since I’ve got it, hailing it my favourite blush of the month for the second time running.

Lips

My favourite autumn lip colour Rimmel Kate Moss 107 had a bit of a daytime makeover this month. The beautiful deep wine hue sinks into lips to add a vampy edge for autumn evenings. But used with Rimmel Apocalips in Nude Eclipse as a base then patted into lips creates a subtle plum pout for day time outings. One shade, two looks and a worth winner of the October Edit title.

Eyes

It’s been a good month for bronze hues this time round and two have found themselves in regular rotation. First up we have Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 in On and On Bronze. An eye colour that’s worth the hype, this beautiful shimmering bronze cream slicks onto lids and decorates peepers impeccably. Gorgeous with nude, plum and red lip colours this little pot of bronze cream is my go to shade all season round.

Secondly, the MUA Undress Me Too Palette. I think this palette hails another Oh Wow. The sleek, travel friendly palette houses twelve beautiful autumn shades, ranging from nude to plum to bronze to black. My favourite day time shade is Lavish which is a dusky plum colour that smokes out eyes to create a delicate, subtle hue. For evenings Fiery has been patted onto the centre of the eye to create a gorgeous, shimmering focal point. The best part? This palette is only £4!

So there you have my October winners… have any of my favourites made your list this month?

The Autumn Colour Edit

autumn edit1

Tis the season to wear bronze. Or it is in my opinion! I love autumn makeup that encapsulates the essence of the atmosphere…bronze lids with thick dark lashes and rose blushed cheeks finished with a muted pink or plum lip. Here’s the low down on my favourite autumn colour eye products.

The MUA Undress Me Too palette.

The colours in this palette are beautiful. Seriously, it’s like they collected all the beautiful jewel toned colours of the autumn season and collated them together in one handy palette. The formulas are soft and creamy, blending easily onto lids, into creases and under brows.

My favourite jewel tone is Fiery, this colour is gorgeous and looks amazing patted onto lids and blended softly around the crease. Winged liner and thick lashes complete this eye look. For everday appeal I’ve been using Naked as my base with Lavish smoked out in and just above the crease.  The matt, muted plum shade creates definition without the drama.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr in On and On Bronze

This hit cream shadow brings it in the bronze department. The dense, pigmented shade blends onto lids to create a shimmering bronze hue. I find one application is all you need for day time, patted onto lids with your ring finger and then lightly smoked out in the crease of the eye. The shade has a gold undertone warming up peepers in one quick slick and looks beautiful with a plum lip stain.

The Body Shop Colour Crush in Bronze Bliss

leonalewis3

A soft, finely milled bronze powder shadow that is intensely pigmented for the ultimate orange bronze hue. Similar to MUA Fiery but a bit more subdued, this is a true bronze shade that is completely wearable for day time. This colour has very fine flecks of glitter that are almost undetectable but pick up the light to create a soft, glimmering effect. I love wearing a light wash of this shade all over the lid for daytime with a hint blended just under the eye. It’s an easy transition product, just pick up any flat shadow brush and pack on the pigment for an amazing, quick evening look.

Max Factor Smokey Eye Effect Eyeshadow in Bronze Haze

This duo ended product houses champagne cream and chocolate bronze in one. The first step is the pretty base champagne colour, easy to blend all over the eye but a little bit creasy so if you’re going to wear this one pat on your primer beforehand.

The best part of this duo is definitely the second step; the chocolaty bronze definer.

This end has been tapered, so tracing this along the upper lash line creates a thick, bronze brown liner which is smudgy enough to create an ‘undone’ every day look. The dense consistency doesn’t tug or pull at the eye so smoothing it on is quick and easy and perfect for morning routines.

The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette 06 Warm

autumn edit 8

Another Body Shop offering, the Shimmer Cube in Bronze is maybe the original cult bronze product! Individually housed complete with lids, each of the quads houses a shimmering hue. Perfect for travel… you get two chocolate and two honey shades of colour. Marshmallow is a go-to daytime shade which looks beautiful smoked out with a hint of Choc Chip. Honey is another true bronze. Packed on densely then creased with Dark Chocolate is the ultimate night time attire. Top tip, you can wet these shades to create a slick wash of colour on the lid.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint in Rich Russet

autum edit 7

The final offering in the autumn selection, this wet cream formula glides onto lids to create a pigmented, cool bronze hue. The doe foot applicator navigates lids easily and ensures even distribution of the glossy product. Amazing with a thick winged eye, this offering dries with a cream powder finish and does not budge when it’s on your peepers. A great product for long days, the cool toned effect adds colour but allows for a warm cheek or lip. I love wearing this on both long days and long nights!

So there you have my Autumn Colour Edit! Stay tuned for the Autumn Lips Edit to match these beautiful bronze shades soon.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette

palette3

As an auburn haired gal, autumn is my one of my favourite seasons. The neon shades of summer change into gold’s and russets while tanned skin gives way for English rose complexions. Most importantly the glossy bright colours of the make-up aisles are replaced by rich, jewel toned autumnal hues.

And look at this! The new MUA Undress Me Too palette is the ultimate dream of rich, jewel shades! I was drawn to this palette like a magnet as I love anything in this colour spectrum; because I have auburn hair and brown eyes I tend to stick to bronze, champagne and dark plum/brown tones. After further inspection at home I’m pleased to report that I would use every shade in the palette…success!

palette1

I’ve not tried MUA eye colours before but after swatching them they felt dense and creamy and packed on colour really well. I’m particularly excited to try the shades Wink, Fiery and Exposed and also really like how the palette comes with a mixture of shimmering and matt shades.

palette2

Undress Me Too also comes with a double ended sponge applicator and is only £4. Yes, £4! At this price I have a sneaky feeling these aren’t going to last long.

Have you tried this palette before or any MUA eye colours?
